NANO4 TB

Tuberculosis, also known as TB, is a highly contagious infectious disease that affects respiratory airways, caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. TB annually kills more than 1.5 million people worldwide and it is estimated that there are more than 10 million people with active TB. It is the 2nd largest infectious disease killer on earth.

When properly diagnosed it is treatable and curable. Early diagnosis and early intervention is the key to full recovery from the disease.

Diagnosis of active TB in high burden countries relies on smear Microscopy testing and confirmation by culture testing which takes 72 hours to provide a result. This results in 35% being lost to the system due to infrastructure issues.

NANO4 TB, our first product, is a fast, decentralized and affordableTB molecular assay which utilises a colorimetric molecular diagnostic method based on gold nanoprobes that allows for fast and specific identification of TB without the requirement of a dedicated instrument.

Key attributes

  • NO dedicated instrument purchase required (no servicing, no training, no breakdowns)
  • More ACCURATE and higher SENSITIVITY than microscopy
  • FASTER time to result compared to sending to reference lab and culture confirmation
  • Affordable when compared to most other methods
