TB annually kills more than 1.5 million people worldwide and it is estimated that there are more than 10 million people with active TB. It is the 2^nd largest infectious disease killer on earth.

When properly diagnosed it is treatable and curable. Early diagnosis and early intervention is the key to full recovery from the disease.

Diagnosis of active TB in high burden countries relies on smear Microscopy testing and confirmation by culture testing which takes 72 hours to provide a result. This results in 35% being lost to the system due to infrastructure issues.
